Middle School Students and Suicide
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, more children in the United States are likely to die from suicide than from car accidents.
There were 425 deaths from suicide for children between 10-14 years old in 2014. Yet only 384 children ages 10-14 died in motor vehicle accidents. The rate of increase for suicide has doubled since 1999. More boys were reported committing suicide than girls. One possibility for the increase in deaths is the use social media.
